Great News! A Milestone Achieved
For the first time in the 108 year history of the Atlantic Union Conference, we have surpassed the goal of 5,000 baptisms and professions of faith in one year—2009—reaching a total of 5,250 or 105 percent. To God be the glory over and over again!
"I want to express profound thanks to God and to our pastors, teachers, lay evangelists, church members, literature evangelists, ministerial leaders, and union/conference administrators for their part in helping to achieve this milestone in the history our union territory," says Donald G. King, president of the Atlantic Union Conference.
Congratulations to two conferences—Greater New York and Southern New England—for surpassing their own goals for 2009 of 1200 and 750, reaching 126 percent and 127 percent respectively.
King notes that while numbers and goals serve as indicators of success, they do not fully reflect the deeper meaning behind the numbers which is really the power of God’s spirit working in the hearts of those convicted of His present truth for these times. God is always working on hearts, but at junctures such as this, it’s important to acknowledge Who is at the center of success.
It is our prayer that God will continue to convert hearts for His kingdom in 2010 and that we’ll see even greater results in years to come.
